Danika Smith

Danika is the High Performance and Compliance Advisor for Sports Services at the University of Ottawa. She holds a B.Sc. in Human Kinetics and a Masters of Human Kinetics with a Concentration in Intervention and Consultation.

She was a member of the University of Ottawa Hockey team for 5 years and was the team’s captain for three of those years. She was awarded the Marion Hillard (for excellence in athletics, academics and community involvement) for both the Quebec conference and Canada in her final year.

Danika competed for the Canadian Women’s Ball Hockey Team at three world championships in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Newfoundland and coached at the Masters World Championship in Banff, Alberta.

In her professional life, Danika was a member of the Canadian mission staff where she worked in Kazan, Russia at the World University games in 2013. Danika was a member of the expert working group that developed Policy guidelines for sports organizations in Canada to create inclusive environments for Trans Participants.
